He started painting as a hobby almost thirty - five years ago and paints a variety of images, from wildlife to portraits, but the favorite continues to be western art and horses, of which there are plenty of scenes waiting to be painted back home on the family ranch. Clarence, Doug's father, and his brothers, Richard, Cliff and Blaine, are still on the family ranch, raising Paint & Quarter horses. The ranch also boasts of a cow/calf operation that is managed by Clarence and three of Doug's brothers. Doug has lived in Newcastle, Wyoming for the past thirty-two years and works for the Wyoming Department of Agriculture.
